NORM HALL JOINS AUTUMN TREE CARE EXPERTS TEAM
NORTHBROOK, IL — Anyone who has watched a tree maintenance crew in action is familiar with the dangers of the job. Although a hardhat, goggles, chaps, and ear protection are a good start, nothing takes the place of quality training. That’s why Autumn Tree Care Experts sought out one of the industry’s most respected professionals — Norm Hall — to serve as the company’s safety and training coordinator.
With over forty years of experience in the field, Norm Hall is truly an expert. His credentials make that point clear: Norm is an ISA Certified Tree Worker & Arborist (IL-1060AT) and a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (#00288). He is also the current president of the Illinois Arborist Association (IAA).
For members of the green industry, Norm needs no introduction. He is a regular speaker for the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), and the IAA.
Through his committee work, Norm helps to set the standards for tree care safety. He is the vice chair of the ISA International Safety Committee and a member of the Crane Subcommittee for ANSI Z133.1 2006. As the chair of the IAA Tree Climbing Competition (a position he held for fifteen years) and as a regular judge for the ISA International Tree Climbing Competition (1997 to present), Norm also encourages the implementation of these standards.
Norm even has a few patents to his name. He is one of the inventors of the Port-a-Wrap II and III — a rope friction device used to safely lower heavy branches or logs from a tree.
Although arboriculture is one of the country’s most dangerous professions, Norm firmly believes that the work it entails can be executed safely. As for the reason why he is so passionate about safety, Norm simply says: “at the end of the day, I want everyone to go home to their families.” That’s reason enough.
